Lydia Charak, RP, MA (EXAT), BSc, BAA, CIP – Toronto, Ontario.
Hi, I’m Lydia
I'm a registered psychotherapist, an expressive arts therapist and a compassionate inquiry practitioner in private practice seeing clients in the east end of Toronto.
My approach is somewhat eclectic. My fine art and science background plus a lifetime of experiences continually influence how I view the world and inform my approach to therapy.
I believe I come to this line of work honestly. I am no stranger to personal trauma and its repercussions and how profoundly this has affected me. This no doubt has had a major part to play in a lifetime of curiosity about what makes people tick, how their past relates to their present situations and how they can overcome difficulties in their lives however large or small.
I also know that people want and need to have a chance to share their story and have someone listen, really listen. Their experiences, perspectives and stories are part of who they are and influence how they function in this world. Too often they have never had anyone actually pay undivided attention without opinions and judgement.
Clients who get the most out of therapy with me are those who are willing to meet me halfway. They appreciate my active participation in sessions, my down to earth approach and aren’t bothered by the occasional colourful language that might fall out of my mouth. Sometimes there’s no better way to say what needs to be said.

I am pleased to announce that I’m presently accepting new clients. A 20 to 30-minute free no-obligation phone consultation starts the process so we can discus what you are looking for and how I may be of help. This ensures we are a good fit before we get started.
In addition to being a therapist, I find balance in my life by engaging in an active and diverse artistic practice. I have a special love for sculpture, art welding and photography and I have sprinkled some of my artwork throughout this website so you can get a sense of who I am and how I see the world.
Please have a look around my website and if you like what you see go ahead and schedule a free consult. I look forward to hearing from you.
