Cancellations
I understand that life can get in the way sometimes and unforeseen emergencies can occur. Should you need to cancel any appointment please provide a minimum of 24-hour notice to avoid being charged the full session rate.

Frequency
Typically, sessions last just under an hour though some clients prefer a longer visit. Many clients get the most out of therapy when they come on a weekly schedule and after they have met some of their therapy goals, switch to every two weeks. Others prefer a bi-weekly routine to begin due to a myriad of reasons and that’s totally ok as well. I’m also open to client’s who, once they feel well and back to feeling like themselves, decide to come once a month or every 2 months for maintenance and a check in. My door is always open providing spaces are available.

How long will therapy take
I like to work with you until you feel you don’t need me anymore. It is my policy to regularly check in with my clients to ensure we are on track and progressing and not prolonging services when they are no longer required.

Health insurance coverage
OHIP does not cover psychotherapy at this point in time but many insurance providers do. Please check your company or private insurance plan for details. I will provide receipts for you to submit to your insurance company for compensation should you wish. I am also pleased to mention that registered psychotherapist fees are tax deductible in Ontario for the purposes of the Medical Tax Credit. Please talk to your accountant or go online to the Canada Revue website to read more about it.

What the phone consultation includes
During the consultation, we will spend some time getting to know each other a little bit. We’ll discuss what my professional approach is as well as your circumstances, concerns and therapy goals. If anything needs to be clarified further, we can discuss it during your first appointment — should you wish to book one. This call should only take about ½ hour and is free of charge. After an appointment time is confirmed, paperwork and/or forms will be emailed to you to fill out in preparation for our first meeting.

Online portal
Existing clients have the flexibility to go online to book, reschedule and cancel appointments. Clients will be issued secure log-in credentials and an online booking URL and will be able to update their password using the “Forgot Your Password?” button on the main log in screen.

Therapy space

My therapy space is located in an office in my home. It is warm and inviting and clients remark on how they feel more comfortable in a place that doesn’t feel clinical. As an added bonus, the birds outside keep us company with their happy chatter. The space is not wheelchair accessible as there are steps both outside and in, so please keep that in mind if mobility is an issue for you. When you arrive for a session just ring the doorbell and I’ll be right with you.
